WPD Ambulance News

October 2nd 2015

WPD Ambulance sent three staff to Toronto to participate in Global Medic's Rapid Response Medical training day.  Global Medic is an organization that specializes in relief medical  and aid missions to disaster and war torn areas across the globe.  Global Medic sends relief teams of trained volunteer professionals to these disaster regions and are usually deployed from 5-12 days on average.

The training day was composed of multiple training sessions that encompassed everything from initial assessment of needs in each situation, water filtration and purification processes, orientation to the portable hospital systems used and introduction to the structures and tents that are used to house patients and volunteers.  There was lots of hands on training and demonstrations to ensure competence in assembly and tear down of the various structures, from basic pole tents to an inflatable electrified tent that is able to house up to 12 separate patients with partitions and electrical service in each sub-unit.

Staff that attended the session took this opportunity to assist in humanitarian efforts across the globe and volunteered their time for this special training.  WPD Ambulance fully supports these efforts of the staff to grow their abilities to serve the local and global healthcare community.
