WPD Ambulance is pleased to offer a Heart Safe program to the citizens of the Battlefords and surrounding communities. The program was implemented in September 2006 and the Battlefords became the 6th city in Saskatchewan and the 12th city in Canada to become Heart Safe.

The goal of the Battlefords Heart Safe Program is to increase the chances of someone surviving a sudden cardiac arrest. The Heart Safe Program aims to have an Automatic External Defibrillator activated within two minutes of a sudden cardiac arrest.
WPD Ambulance's Heart Safe Program currently has over 40 Heart Safe sites with Automatic External Defibrillators.
